If you are a fan of Dorothy Parker reading this biography may not be a good idea. Meade writes of Parker with a warts and all manner. While there is no denying her talent and brilliance, it is almost overshadowed by a portrayal of Parker as a lazy, sloppy, alcoholic who takes advantage of friendships with the wealthy while internally despising them for their wealth. When done with this biography you walk away with a negative picture of a woman who squandered not only her talent but, much of her life.
