I can't say enough good thing about this book. If you're wanting an in depth look into the camps this is it. This is a lot different than your average holocaust memoir because the priests were treated differently than the other prisoners.
Bernard is brutally honest and it's at times very hard to read. At the same time, in my opinion, it's exceptional writing.
My review on goodreads.com:
This is simply astounding. I had a hard time even reading this and this is after reading a few books on the Holocaust. This was the first book I'd read coming from a clergyman and I wanted a different aspect which this gave me.
There really isn't much I can say about this- it should be required reading I think- for everyone. I had the hardest time getting through some parts- the evil that is in some people is astounding. I can't begin to imagine going through the things that I had a difficult time only reading about.
