A Baltimore cop watched his partner die on the street, and the guilt haunts him. With nowhere else to go, he accepts the job as chief of police in a tiny, remote Alaskan town. He meets a pretty, but extremely independent woman, and also finds that there is an unsolved murder in this quiet, peaceful town, and the murder is still lurking.

It's a good read.
