I was amazed, sometimes shocked, and repulsed to read some of the sexual content. That says more about me and not about the author. I got a feeling so is more comfortable talking about her sexual events. If that offends you, this book is not for you.
When she was not poetically recalling her sexual encounters, she was poetically writing about a platonic person. She used some big flowery words sometimes, but it seemed that is because she knows how to use, she wasnt showing off. I am amazed at the superior level of writing style shown in this book. I didnt have much to based my opinion about Mary-Louise Parker, I didnt follow her film/TV career. I was aware of who she was in general. I only remember seeing her in Fried Green Tomatoes.
Some of letters are better than others, if you are tempted to stop in the middle, keep going. Each letter is unique.
