I finished this book last night and that really surprises me. I am not usually a fan of books from the first person point of view and cannot count the number of them I have given up on by the third chapter. Up until now I have only finished one book from the first person point of view, but now I can make it two. I really enjoyed this book and it grabbed me pretty quickly. Her descriptions were rich enough to make me be able to picture things in my mind and the relationship between Dorina and her father and uncles is dysfunctional but extremely believable. Father and daughter have a lot of issues and Dorina resents her father, the uncles are a bit strange (as uncles can sometimes be)and one (Dracula) is psychotic. At times I chuckled over Dorina's thoughts about situations or people, and I loved her take no crap attitude. I thought the story moved along at a good pace to keep me interested and I connected very well with Dorina the dhamphir and could understand why she would feel the way she did as more and more of her past was revealed. I will definitely be checking out any more in this series that come out. All in all an excellent book that I thoroughly enjoyed even though I don't usually like first person POV in a book.
