This story has everything, but the kitchen sink. There's time travel, Greek mythology, erotica, and a mystery. The heroine was supposed to be a 21st century Oxford educated woman, but sometimes she behaved like a teenager. She adapts far too readily to the scenario in the book, yet she doesn't seem to be able to speak in anything other than modern day English. Her constant use of modern slang expressions were annoying. The 19th century hero was not quite as irritating as the heroine. He's quite likable and charming, but one doesn't get a strong sense of who he is. There needed to be better background on both of them.
This book is very sexually explicit although the scenes are well-written. I am usually not bothered by sex scenes in books, but this one had far too many scenes and at the oddest of times.
It's not War and Peace and you're not going to gain any insight into the meaning of life, but it's a good book for the beach or for those times you want to check your brain at the door.
