The biography is definitely self-serving, but then what biography isn't. Still I found Mudd's descriptions of the "young" journalists he palled around with, for instance, Dan Rather, to be altogether fascinating. The book is also a disturbing comment on how low journalism has fallen from the days when Mudd was presiding over the evening news.
