A good book on a seldom discussed subject. Due to my interest in the 'secret' war during WW II, I have read some of these exploits before. This is the reason I posted the book after reading it, and it is already gone to another member.

In this book, one sentence makes a short remark about how one man, who parachuted in and had his own adventures, used his military chute for a non-military purpose. In other books this is discussed in a bit more detail. After the war, he and his fiance journeyed back to the area he jumped into. They spent some time looking for the supplies he cached in the snow on the mountain he parachuted on to. They finally found the cache and only took the silk parachute. It was for her wedding dress.

These men knew what they were returning to: possibly torture and a horrible death. In fact, a number of them ended their lives that way. Their actions remind me of my favorite definition for courage.... Courage is fear, faced with resolution.
