Alex Moorehouse fell in love with Cassandra Cutler the first time he met her. But, since she was married to his best friend, he kept his distance from her. Now Reece Cutler is dead, lost at sea in a boating accident. The accident also left Alex injured; staying on his family's property while in the Adirondacks while the family's bed and breakfast is being renovated. Now he finds it hard to avoid Cassandra since she is the person doing the renovating. But Alex knows he must stay away from her because he is to blame for her husband's death.

Alex is a tortured soul, believing himself responsible for his partner's death. Cassandra can't understand why Alex has always been so cold with her. I love their stilted conversations when neither of them can think of anything to say to the other. This is the third book in the Moorehouse Legacy series. As I read the books in this series, I see the author's style evolving. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
