Found at the branch library for two bits and a pleasant read (part of it) on the bus. Ms. Partridge was a 13 year old fan when the band hit US shores and saw them live at Candlestick Park. This is an honor book of the ALA, winning the Printz Award for YA literature. I found the photos to be well chosen, enjoying especially the Cave photos and saddened at one showing the crowd outside the Dakota--we were all dismayed at John Lennon's demise.
There is a nice photo of his Aunt Mimi, who was so good to him. The text is well-written and considerable. While this is a coffee table book of sorts it does have some heft, including an index and bibliography, and a several 'source notes' for each chapter.
I will take it out to the old soldier's home next Saturday and perhaps mail it out to one of the wish list PBS comrades if it is not taken away, but more likely will take it to the VA hospital book truck. The branch library actually kept it in circulation for ten years, an unusual length of time, and while it is in VG condition, I think the binding is beginning to weaken and I don't want a hassle with PBS folk who don't much like ex-library books.
