Louise Marley is one of my favorite female science fiction authors - I have yet to read a book by her that is not engrossing. The Maquisarde is not her best --- the plot is fascinating but it is difficult to care for her characters as much as one does in other books --- but it's still an absorbing story about a world-famous flutist in the late 21st century who becomes a resistance fighter when her husband and daughter are killed in a cover-up incident engineered by the oppressive regime of George Glass. Based on the space-satellite world of StarHold, Ebriel joins with the other women (and some men) there to find revenge (initially) and eventually heal her grief and rediscover herself; meanwhile a member of the government military corps becomes disillusioned with the regime he had believed in, and helps Ebriel.......
