Sixth in the series and surprisingly, a new reader could probably start here. In the last book, Richardson concluded the story arc about just why Harper became a Greywalker, and how she vanquished the evil Wygan. Now it's sort of a re-set for the character with her Grey abilities diminished and she's back to earning a living. I quite like this turn of events; this book has a smaller scope to it but is still interesting. Of course this means it's slower-paced than the last. I liked the Chinese mythology and I very much liked Jin, I thought all the competing wizards fighting over the anchor was a nice hook. I did not miss the Danzingers, I have a hard time believing in them - neither one of them have experience with the Grey like Harper but somehow they can always explain to her what she sees and what it means. There are several more in this series and I'm wondering if Richardson will start another long story arc, but this one seems contained within itself. Just don't be expecting the same massive action and body count as the last one.
