I read this for CE Murphy's story. I have read five out of the six shaman books so far and knew I had to read story number 1.5. Going back to read about Joanne was interesting because the character has grown so much in book 5 that I forgot "Banshee Cries" featured a very young Joanne. So it took a little bit to get used to this Joanne again. The story wasn't as funny as the regular books but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. I actually found the story a little more straight forward. Sometimes with the books you are not sure how everything is going to come together. This series is best to read in order.

I tried to read Lackey's and Lee's stories but I couldn't get into them. They probably weren't bad stories, just stuff I'm not used to reading so I had a hard time. I did give up after a few chapters.
