The third in the series about a family of dragons and their lives growing up alone. This one is as unsentimental as the previous books have been. There is blood and "cannabalism", but dragons aren't picky about doing what they need to do to survive. This book is about a nameless copper dragon who AuRon managed to push out of the nest. He never managed to kill the copper dragon, however. Usually, only one male dragon survives in the nest. This one managed to hide and stay alive, but he always resented his brother who maimed him. This copper dragon is who is the reason for the story that is told by these books. We later see who and why just as we have seen the same in the second book. This dragon manages to find his way to a group of dissolute dragons and is adopted by the leader of them. He learns the ways to survive and to become strong despite his physical problems. It will be interesting to see how things shake out as the next 3 books progress since this dragon is considered "outcast" and has to work much harder to succeed because of his background and disabilities.
