Another historical novel of Dragaera, written in a pseudo-French romantic style (think Three Musketeers). A bit long-winded, but still fun and interesting. We get to meet up with a number of (long-lived) Dragaerans who will be prominent in the Vlad Taltos books such as Aliera e'Kieron and Sethra Lavode, and learn the details of what happened with Lord Adron e'Kieron's scheme that so dramatically changed the history of Dragaera City. Second in the series, after the Phoenix Guards and before the Viscount of Adrilankha.
