Simon has severe social anxiety and has always related to animals better. His plans for getting a dog are put on hold after his grandfather dies and he moves in with his grandma (who is allergic). His grandma has always supported him and not made him feel deficient/less then. When he answers an ad for a twice daily dog walker, he meets Jack. Jack has 4 dogs and 3 cats and he prefers animals to people too. He is a children's book illustrator burned by his best friend when he stole Jack's story ideas.
Nice story of 2 people who aren't much for people finding what they need in each other. Jack is able to find ways to communicate with Simon when his ability to speak fails him. Simon is able to inspire Jack to start drawing again
