I love naval fiction, so my reviews of such are probably skewed towards being very favorable. McCutchan's "Donald Cameron" novels are hard to come by. So I'm not reading them in chronological order.

This one was a good action novel about rescuing British POWs from a Japanese death ship, as they were later called by the Allies. The only problem I found was a small one. Early in the book some remarks are made about Japanese kamikaze planes. Yet, other remarks led me to believe the time frame of the book is 1943 or even slightly earlier. However, according to the Wikipedia page on the kamikaze, the Japanese didn't begin using those until October 1944.

As usual, McCutchan spends time developing the characters of the personnel on the ship. So these become three-dimensional characters you either care for or dislike.
