The smoldering tensions of World War II ignite into open racial conflic in a powerful period drama set in the Pacific Northwest. When a fisherman is found drowned, suspicion falls on Japanese-American Kazou Miyamoto. Local reporter Ishmael Chambers may hold the key to proving Kazou's innocence. But there's a problem: Ishmael's also in love with Kazou's wife.

This story wasn't a fast read, was slow all the way through, and this story isn't my kind of read, however I did like it and I would like to see the movie of this story. I think the movie would be better.
