Set in 1935, this hard-boiled mystery has the flavor of Mickey Spillane. Jim Locke, a crime-beat reporter, is the prime suspect in his sister's murder. He must find a way to prove his innocence before a corrupt New York cop with a vendetta arrests him - or worse. The action moves from New York to Key West where Ernest Hemingway becomes a central figure, just as a giant hurricane bears down on the Keys. This book is hard to put down, and it kept me up late reading until the final page.
