Romeow and Juliet is the first installment in the Whales and Tails series. Main character Caitlin Hart lives on Madrona Island located off the coast of Washington state. Caitlin lives in a small cabin on her Aunt Maggie's estate and helps her with her cat sanctuary in addition to running her combination bait and quilt shop, Bait and Stitch.

Cait is teaming up with her best friend Tara to purchase the old abandoned cannery and open a combination coffee shop/bookstore/cat adoption center - Coffee Cat Books. With Cait's faithful dog Max by her side the girls start a final inspection of the building and discover the dead body of the realtor.

A terrific debut with lots of fun aspects. The animals are a pleasure, especially Romeow the stray that adopts Cait and proceeds to court her neighbor's show cat Juliet. The secondary characters including Cait's family, friends and the two local witches provide lots of possibilities for future episodes including romance. The subplot of what and who is making Caits Aunt Maggie sick is an awesome carrot dangling in front of your nose that will have you wanting to read the second in the series.
