The whole vampire thing is fascinating and these are mostly good ones that resist preying on humans so you can appreciate their otherness without the constant gore. The Anne Rice books became too bogged down in an over the top creepy vampire world, instead of their relationship with humans for me. I'd prefer a more developed adult story line but this story about a teen girl falling in love with a vampire effectively hooked my imagination.
