"Nearing Home- Life, Faith, and Finishing Well" by Billy Graham

Billy Graham is such a well-known and very talented gospel preacher, that it will truly be a sad day when he finally is called home to heaven. Perhaps in the last book he will write, Mr. Graham reflects on his life and how he has lived. Now that he is in his early 90's he knows he is about at the end and sees each day as a gift. He misses his wife, Ruth, and longs to be reunited with her when he too dies.

The book has many reflections of Graham's life and ministry. He shares openly about his work, family and friends. He also challenges the reader to "finish well." There are many aspects to finishing life here on earth and he covers many of them chapter by chapter. Graham shares scriptures and personal stories from his life and the lives of others to illustrate his point.

"Nearing Home" is easy to read and very uplifting, considering the topic is sometimes viewed as a bit sad. The book is suitable for all ages, but I think most appropriate for middle to senior adults. Younger adults would glean much from the book, but I doubt many are ready for the message. It would be a good gift book for someone who is in the twilight years or nearing retirement.
