Book #2 of a loosely based series. Francesca, the American frosty "princess", doesn't want to marry a duke but is forced into it by her mother. William doesn't want to marry either, but must because he has been left with debts and a crumbling estate. Franny has been told that there is a clause in the agreement that says any children she has must be raised in America. So because of this, she sets out to seduce her husband into getting her with child and then she may return to her home. The duke is convinced that Franny is carrying another man's child so he avoids her so that he will know for sure that the child is not his.
The characters are fun and enjoyable to read about. The author rather jumps a little between bawdiness and primness. A great vacation read.
