Death by Tiara is the thirteenth installment in the Jaine Austen series. Jaine Austen is a freelance writer most famous for her Toiletmasters jingle who lives in the outskirts of Beverly Hills with her cat Prozac.

Jaine is contacted by Heather Van Sant to write original lyrics for a song that her daughter Taylor will be competing in the Miss Teen Queen America pageant. Jaine can't refuse the money the wealthy woman offers to pay, and soon finds herself accompanying the mother and daughter to the pageant.

Things go from bad to worse when Heather acting as a typical pageant Mom gets into a fight with another mother, Taylor's $1500 Vera Wang gown goes missing, the pageant director's assistant is found bludgeoned in the hallway, and Jaine's neighbor Lance has dropped Prozac off at the hotel.

Heather becomes the prime suspect and asks Jaine to please help clear her name. Jaine really likes Taylor, the teenage M&M addict and once again can't turn down the money that Heather offers to pay. Plus as readers of previous Jaine mysteries well know she can't keep her nose out of things even if she tries.

Another laugh out loud book in the series. The main cast of characters are back including Jaine's Mother and Father who are still up to their antics in Florida and correspond via email, Lance Venable Jaine's next door neighbor who has fallen head over heals in love again, this time with the UPS driver and Scott Willis, the adorable homicide detective that Jaine has her eyes on.

And, as I've said in past reviews of this series - you can't help but fall in love with Prozac. As any cat owner can tell you Ms. Levine has nailed the behavior and antics of a cat to a tee.

Will definitely be looking for the next in the series.
