Inspector Kurt wallander is called to a nearby farm field where a teenage girl has been loitering all day. As he approaches she douses herself with gasoline and sets herself aflame & the next day a former Minister of Justice is axed to death & scalped. The solving of these 2 cases is beset by obstacles.
