Sven Kirstens's Book of Tiki is quite simply, the definitive look at the Tiki style/culture that developed in the 40's and 50's. The book is full of vintage photos, and designs from the era and traces the history of Tiki style from it's start through to it's ultimate demise in the 70's and even touches on modern Tiki revival. Although the book is mostly upbeat celebration of all things Tiki, the book has a sad side as well when you realize how much of the great stuff shown in it is completely gone now.
The book is gorgeous; Tashcen is known for their exceptional quality, and this is no exception. The book is informative, but never boring. If you are a fan of Tiki culture like me, you NEED to have this book in your collection.
Unfortunately, the book is scarce and highly sought after by Tikiphiles, so you might need to look outside of PBS for a copy.
