This is a fairly quick read. It begins with the baby girl abandoned and takes us on the journey through her hard childhood as she is growing up in the present, while telling the story of her family from the viewpoint of the mother who abandoned her in the past. It is well written and very character driven. I just don't handle children in distress well and this was too dark and sad for me.
