I have never read a John Grisham book that I did not like. This was the first of his books I read that had no lawyers nor courtrooms.
It is the story of a little boy and his family and their world in a time gone by - though not that long ago since it took place during my lifetime. His characters are so real, as always, and the book is easy to read and hard to put down. I could not bear to leave the people I met in A Painted House. I feel as if I know them.
