Necroscope: Invaders is the first part of a Necroscope trilogy dealing with a new necroscope. Harry Keogh is long dead, and his son is back in the parallel dimension of Sunside since the final destruction of the vamphyri. Unfortunately, the vampires may be dead, but they're not all buried. Into the Earth dimension surge a new vampiric horde, led by two Lords and a Lady of vast power. And it's E-Branch's job to try to put them down before things get out of hand. Their secret weapon is a disturbed ex-military man who seems to have all of the powers of a necroscope, but has no idea how to use them. Is this some final gift from the first necrocope, Harry Keogh, or a terrible trap set up by the vampires?

While this book does take it's time getting to the story, and spends a good deal of it's time re-acquainting the readers with the past history of the story, while keeping it somewhat vague at the same time, once it gets rolling, it doesn't fail to please. No matter how many times I read these Brian Lumley vampire epics, I'm always shocked at how horrible and disgusting his creatures are. Just when you think he can't affect you any more...Surprise! In this new trilogy, we get a lot of the familiar cast of the later Necroscope books, so the old readers will have that to look forward to. And new readers can feel like fish out of water learning things haphazardly like the protagonist of the story. If you've loved Lumley's other work, take another romp through his vampiric, Lovecraftian world. You won't be disappointed!
