Worried about tourism and not having faith in Sheriff Lamb, the local Chamber of Commerce has approached Mars Investigations to help find a missing girl. Since Keith Mars is laid up with injuries suffered in a car crash, his daughter Veronica steps in to handle the case. With the help of her friends Mac and Wallace, Veronica tracks the missing girl to a mansion where there are parties nearly every night. She learns that the people renting the mansion have ties to a Mexican drug cartel. The next day she discovers that another girl has gone missing; one who has ties to Veronica.
Are you a fan of the Veronica Mars tv show? Did you watch the Kickstarter movie that came out a few years ago? If so, you will love this book. The story picks up about two months after the movie ended. Veronica has given up her chance to work for a big New York law firm to become a private investigator. Her father is not happy about her following in his footsteps.
This mystery has a lot of twists and turns. There were many red herrings that led me down the wrong path. I listened to the audiobook which I highly recommend. Kristen Bell narrates this book. No one else could voice Veronica Mars. My rating: 5 Stars.
