Wish I'd liked this better. The case was certainly both interesting and complex. There were some difficulties in sorting out people and relationships, but it did not account for why the writing was so awkward from such a pro as Rule. It just felt like the book was poorly edited and strangely organized. Events happened with no foreshadowing, others came after a bald statement in an unrelated chapter which foretold something between people we'd not yet met. The introductions of various lawmen were jarring. The sense of family relationships and interaction were off. For the first time in a Rule book I didn't honestly get a good sense of who the victim was in life. Disappointing but not a 'bad' book.
