Four years ago, L.A. Police Detective Harry Bosch shot and killed Norman Church, a man who he believed was a serial killer. Nicknamed "The Dollmaker", Church was thought to be responsible for the rape and murder of eleven prostitutes. Now Harry is a defendant in a wrongful death suit brought by Church's widow. Things are not looking good for his case when a new body is discovered. It looks like the work of The Dollmaker, except that the body is only two years old. Is there a copycat? Did Harry shoot the wrong man?

This is the third book in Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series. The mystery is engrossing. I loved the mixture of courtroom drama and hard-boiled detective investigating another murder. And I really like the character of Harry Bosch. He is smart, honest, and just wants to do what is right. The villain in this book was a complete surprise to me. I love when that happens. I highly recommend this book and suggest that you read the series in order. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
