White often explores psychic or supernatural abilities/events in her books. That is the case with this one, too. She does a nice job of developing the characters, building suspense, and providing foreshadowing and clues along the way. If you pay attention, you'll solve the mystery before the end of the book. However, that doesn't make the journey any less satisfying.
