Very Victorian and reminiscent of Dickens. This tale of revenge centers around Edward, who will stop at nothing to avenge himself on his old schoolmate, Phoebus.
The author got the sense of place spot on, but I found the frequent footnotes explaining each allusion annoying. The twists and turns of the novel are easy to follow, even if the narrative did seem a little long.
