I'd you can get past the barely 9th grade reading level and vampire cliches, the story line is actually not bad. Set in the South in a time when vampires are commonly known of and frequent local establishments, this vampire romance meets murder mystery kept my attention. Complete with mind readers and shape shifters. Something for everyone! :)

If you've seen Season 1 of the HBO series "True Blood", you'll find that this book is an excellent guide with very similar storyline. Season 1 includes this entire book and the first chapter or two of the 2nd book.
