I had mixed feelings about this book. The mystery was interesting enough; it was the main character that I was unsure of. It's never really clear if she's actually psychic or not. She owns a fortune-telling shop but rarely spends any time there, which is confusing as she mentions its premium real estate location. How anyone could afford to rent such a space without working all the time is baffling. She also mentions seeing a dark shadow while giving a reading, but that's the extent of any psychic or paranormal activity in this book. She relies on her experience as a psychologist to help her solve the mystery. That being said, she is terrible at dealing with confrontation, which also mystifies me, considering that a psychologist, even one who is no longer practicing, should be great at that. Based on the title of the book, I really expected a strong psychic/paranormal element, and there wasn't one.
