I absolutely loved this book. Unfortunately I stayed up most of the night reading it! Different from any other novel I have read. I think both men and women would equally enjoy.

The story is predominately about a young man who loses both his parents in an accident, quits college, hops a train that turns out to be a circus train. It is set in the depression, so he stays with the circus in order to feed himself. The story is narrated by the man at 90 (or 93) years old from his assisted living home and moves back and forth between these 2 stages of his life.

Really makes you think about your life up onto this point and what it will be like when you are old and dependant on others. However, it is not terribly depressing.

I didn't order this book for a long time becuase I wasn't too interested in a circus story, but this book is much, much more than that. Give it a try.
