I saw Mr. Adams' column first in the alternative press papers of the 1970s and later as it was sold as 'filler' for free papers centered on real estate or entertainment late in the century. In the 1990s, I was clipping it for Dave to use as he met around a table with old soldiers and sailors. They would go through the newspaper, discuss the stories of the day, and end with a trivia exercise. Mr. Adams provided a lighter note.
The material in this book is divided into categories (chapters) and the questions presented are sufficient to allow Adams' to live up to the book's claim of being "A compendium of human knowledge." This was done before the worldwide web appeared.
It is still fun to dip into the book, although it is true that the questions about telephones are now historic.
Good index.
