Stoats, short-tailed weasels, are fascinating creatures in North America, Europe, and Asia. However, we know stoats more commonly when they adapt to cold weather by changing their coat to white fur, called ermine. Another interesting factoid is that stoats don't burrow their own nest or tunnel but prefer to take over the habitat of the animal they have killed. The author makes a great point about how difficult stoats are to keep as pets.
