Mr. John Parker-Roth, 1800's, England, and Meg Peterson. Meg is determined to get married this season and is making a concerted effort to interview prospective husbands in the shrubbery at each ball this season. When one gets too amorous and rough she is saved from being raped by Parks. They had met at the scandalous house party where Westbrooke and Lizzie got engaged and married, and Meg has been smitten with him since, but didn't believe he was interested. When she and Parks are caught in the shrubs, after he saved her, the towns biggest busy body stumbles upon themâ¦.and spreads the word that Parks has ruined Meg, and everyone expects them to marry, but Meg refuses his suit thinking he didn't really want to marry her, but he was being forced. It all turns out in the end, and it could have been a merry chase but there are so many characters in the story I easily got confused and had to keep looking back to see was whom, and which earl she was referring to,it was very confusing, and she had some good story lines to go from but never pursued them, in the end the story fell flat for me, especially since our Gentleman in question was never found naked.
