Bree and Jake had fallen in love in high school. A tramatic occurance caused Bree to leave their little town of Chesapeake Shores for a chance at her dream of being a playwright. When Bree returned to open "Flowers on Main" Jake would not give her the time of day; he had been devastated when she left and could not go through any more heartbreak. "Flowers on Main" shows a too slow reunion of this couple with a secondary story of the reunion of Bree's father and mother, who had divorced many years earlier when Meg left because Mick spent most of his time away on his successful business, leaving Meg to deal with raising their five children alone and causing her to feel unloved and unwanted. Misunderstandings and lack of trust abound until things finally work out.
