This was not the light-hearted romp I expected it to be: though full of nostalgia, it tackles serious issues like racism and sexism. Heck, the first chapter was about abortion! Nonetheless, the author's encyclopedic knowledge of 80s films is impressive, and there are some LOL funny one-liners.
This would be a 4 star book if not for the footnotes.* There are footnotes on almost every page, a la Mary Roach. ** I find them enormously distracting.
