I love true crime books, just not this one. When I read true crime, I am only interested in 4 things-how the crime was committed, how the offender was discovered, what sentence did the offender receive, and updates, if available. This book started out well, although I do agree that the author jumped around excessively. However, I felt that there were way too many chapters devoted to the trial itself. It is my belief that the author aquired the court transcripts and copied them verbatium into this book. I was so bored with all the legal mumbo-jumbo and the he said-she said politics between the prosecutor and defense attorneys, I actually found myself falling asleep at this point in the book. Eventually I skipped over this chapters, which were long and many. This is a sad, sad story and as a parent I found myself making sure my children's windows were locked. I also found at least one picture particularly gruesome and felt that the book could do without it. The picture seared in my memory now is not of the beautiful little girl as she looked in life, but of the awful picture of her body laying on a cold slab in death. That picture is no parent should have to see, be it your child or not.
