Finally, a book of Ms. James' that I enjoyed! Frequent complaints I've had with her more recent books were that she wrote a lot of silly conversation and over-the-top story lines. Not this time, however; this one's a winner. Olivia was a trifle silly, but she was fiercely loyal to those she loved and respected. Her fiance, Rupert, was an unusual and original character; I couldn't help but like him despite his challenges. And Quin, well, he may have had problems communicating his emotions but he knew early on that he wanted Olivia for his own and didn't waste time fighting the love bug. He was romantic, endearing, and downright yummy. The sensual sparks they shared were thrilling. The plot had some unusual twists, and they were nicely done. I wondered how the Princess and the Pea theme was going to fit, but all worked out well. I was disappointed, however, with the ending because it was unsatisfying and didn't do the story justice. Aggravating, yes, but not enough for me to consign it as another dud. Instead it deserves a solid 4 stars.
