Book Review of Christmas Crafts: Things to Make the 24 Days Before Christmas

Christmas Crafts: Things to Make the 24 Days Before Christmas

A very varied set of 24 crafts, apparently designed as sort of an advent-calendar of crafts.

I had two problems with the book. One, many of the crafts were simply of no interest to me. Not entirely surprising in a book this varied, I admit. Secondly (though the first problem may make the second one less of an issue)....I don't think I could do one a day. Some aren't too bad, some with preparation ahead of time wouldn't be too bad. Others even prepared would take most of an afternoon and some closer to a day! In December! It might not seem so bad if the very first one for December 1st wasn't a long one. I don't think sewing I could do it in one day (it suggests many hands make light work). Hot gluing it, maybe.

The short history lessons/tradition explanations at the start of each chapter were interesting. They made nice lead-ins to the crafts. It was an interesting book to read, even if I didn't actually make anything. I'm currently in an anti-knick-knack stage, so reading craft books is more interesting than actually making anything. :) Their way of blowing out eggs looks easier than how I learned it, though! I also like the fact the gingerbread is designed to be eaten, not just looked at!
