ESPAÃOL: Esta novela fue un bestseller internacional. Está bien para aquellos a quienes les gustan las tramas complicadas, pero yo prefiero personajes mejor desarrollados. Estos son de cartón, y les pasan cosas sensacionales ni realistas ni fundamentadas en lo que sabemos de su carácter. De veras, sólo me gustó el principio, que fue muy evocador de la Barcelona de los 40, justo después de la Guerra Civil. Total, quedé decepcionada.

I liked the beginning, which was very evocative of Barcelona just after the Spanish Civil War, but the characters were flat, and a bunch of things about them seems strictly sensational, not realistic or motivated by anything we knew about them. I found it disappointing.
