When Tess McPhail's mother is in need of assistance after hip replacement surgery, Tess's sisters insist that she take a break from her life as a country-western star to care for her. Tess returns to Wintergreen, Missouri, expecting a hero's welcome, but Kenny Kronek, her mother's helpful neighbor and a former schoolmate of Tess's, doesn't care that Tess is a big shot. Tess grows close to his daughter, an aspiring songstress, and in the process, she begins to realize that Kenny is a good-hearted (and handsome!) man.
