O.M.G.!! Just too much information. This is a huge book - about 700 pages and it is simply too much. There are too many people mentioned, and too much detail about them. A lot of this is irrelevant to the story. It reads more like a court transcript than a book that should hold a readers interest. A serious editor needs to slash this book by about 300 pages - and then it would make for a much better read. Perhaps this subject would have been covered better by M. William Phelps or Harold Schechter. At least those authors can cover similar gruesome events, but still keep the pace ticking along.
The best thing about this book (if you can ever manage to get to the end) is that you will NEVER have to read another book on the subject.
