This book was amazing! I am an avid Moning fan. I started with her highland series and really enjoyed them. When I learned she was expanding her story in the Highland series to her Fever series, I was impatient to read them all. However, I read countless reviews stating she wasn't a romance writer anymore and that the new series is nothing like her previous work. I was severely disappointed since some of my favorite writers have switched genres right when they seem to be at the top of their game. I decided I'd read the series eventually and assumed it would probably take me weeks to read since it lacked romance.

I assumed wrong. It took me a day in a half to finish the book. This is the best piece of literature Moning has produced. I really enjoyed her Highland series but her subplot on the Tuatha De Danna was always muddled and not quite clear. It seems Moning has honed in on her skills as a writer and has given her creative idea of the Fae justice.

It does not lack romance either. I think her fans that were disappointed in her Fever series were expecting something similar to her Highland series. The two series are very different. "Darkfever" is much more serious. But if your expecting to find a few sex scenes in this book you will be disappointed to learn there aren't any. Don't let that discourage you, there is still a lot of sexual tension among the characters.

I am so glad I finally read this book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
