First, for those of you out there expecting a sequel to the Last Unicorn, this is NOT it. This book has absolutely nothing to do with that other book...other than the fact that it includes a short story by Peter S. Beagle that is a completely new story in a new world.

Now, on to the book itself. This is a GREAT read. There are a multitude of different authors chosen by Beagle for this book and the stories are all good. I can't think of a single one I didn't like. They are all very different and written by authors of all kinds of stories. I was particularly impressed by a story by Robert Devereaux that, rather than his normal hardcore material, was rather heartfelt. There is also a story by Eric Lustbader that was really good, even though it is a bit on the hardcore side. It would take a while to give a synopsis of each story. To keep it simple, they all have on theme that stays the same in each...they all contain some form of unicorn. The unicorns are all very different, though. We have Chinese unicorns, medieval fantasy unicorns, even a rhino. So, if you want a horror tale, a fantasy tale, or just something unique...give this book a shot. And read the other stories after you read the one you want...they're all good.
